About

Special Olympics Northern California offers training and competitions in 11 sports, along with unified schools programs, health and wellness activities, and leadership training. The program provides free year-round programs for children and adults with intellectual disabilities. It uses sports to jumpstart change and spark joy, and unites people with and without intellectual disabilities to create a more connected community. One example of the programming is an 8-week basketball season.

• Ages: 0–18 years old
• Schedule: Includes an 8-week basketball season

Special Olympics Northern California is dedicated to promoting unity and empowering children and adults with intellectual disabilities both on and off the field. Programs transform athletes into leaders and promote acceptance, unity, and respect throughout Northern California. As a Special Olympics chapter, it drives progress locally while taking part in a larger movement toward a more unified world. The program was created by the Joseph P. Kennedy, Jr. Foundation and is authorized and accredited by Special Olympics, Inc. for the benefit of persons with intellectual disabilities.
