About
Tinker Village focuses on children’s social and emotional skills, self-help skills, cognitive skills, language and literacy skills, and motor skills. The program’s philosophy is based on the work of Jean Piaget and adapts instruction to each learner’s developmental level. Its learning model includes the Wonder of Inquiry, Wonder of Nature, Wonder of Kindness, Wonder of Materials, Wonder of Presence, and Wonder of Connection, and it states that “We are your Village!”
Tinker Village states that children are unique, innately good, and active explorers and contributors to society, and it holds that parents are the child’s first teachers and that “it takes a village to raise a child.” Its mission is to engage children at the awe-filled stage of childhood and provide an environment where they can immerse themselves in the natural rhythms and wonder of the world. The program is led by Mrs. Ericka, an Early Childhood Educator who has been teaching and educating children for over 20 years. Tinker Village is a member of NAEYC, the National Association for the Education of Young Children.
Parents describe Tinker Village as having a very organized and caring daycare run by Miss Ericka and say they have recommended it to friends. One parent reports that all three of their children grew up there and that they had peace of mind returning to work with a 2‑month‑old in care, and says, “We all love Ms. Ericka.” Another parent notes that the center is very clean, has friendly and helpful staff, and that they would recommend it to every parent.
