On January 1, 2023, the City of Richmond transitioned its lessons from the Canadian Red Cross Swim Kids program to the Lifesaving Society’s Swim for Life program. A Swim Lesson Transition Chart outlines which level of the Swim for Life program swimmers will move into based on their current or previous Swim Kids Level. Children and adults must have the required pre-requisite in order to register into specific swim levels. Children and adults can only be registered in a class with a start date that is after the last day of the class they are already registered in, and registrations that do not follow this rule are cancelled. Adapted Swim - Child provides modified swimming techniques that accommodate the abilities of individuals with cognitive or physical limitations. In Adapted Swim - Child, there are usually volunteers in addition to the teacher. Families can register in three ways: by phone at 604-276-4300 (Monday to Friday, 8:30am–5:00pm), online by selecting a button to browse and register, or in person at any community facility where debit, cheque, and cash are accepted.
