About

Robotics Summer Camp focuses on hands-on robot-building activities, including building robots and designing and building custom autonomous robots. Participants spend time learning robotics, computer coding, artificial intelligence (AI), logical thinking, analytical thinking, and electronics, and they program the Arduino microprocessor as part of their projects. The camp also includes the RoboGames competition, where participants create and program autonomous robots to pick up color-specific balls and carry them to designated goals, as well as a Robotics Summer Camp competition.

• Ages: 10–18 years old
• Schedule: One-week long robotics summer camp sessions
• Price: The registration fee is $280 per person. Families with financial difficulties can get a 20% discount. Low-income families can get a 20% discount.

Robotics Summer Camp is La Sierra University's eleventh annual 2026 Robotics Summer Camp. The 2026 schedule includes Class 1 Beginner from July 6 to July 10, 2026, 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon, and Class 2 Beginner from July 13 to July 17, 2026, 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. The fee includes an Arduino microprocessor robotic kit that contains all the parts for building the robotic projects, and this kit is for participants to keep at the end of the camp. Participants design and build their own custom autonomous robots and take them home after the camp. No previous experience is needed, and seats are limited, so early registration is recommended.

The program’s stated purpose is for students to have fun learning robotics, logical thinking, analytical thinking, computer coding, and electronics through hands-on robot-building activities. Robotics Summer Camp is a non-profit organization of La Sierra University. It is run by the La Sierra University Computer Science Department in partnership with the Riverside Unified School District, the City of Riverside, and Bourns Inc. The leadership team includes Dr. Hwang, Chair of the Computer Science Department at La Sierra University. Dr. Enoch Hwang was honored as an Outstanding Citizen of Riverside by Riverside Mayor William R. Bailey, III and Councilmember John Burnard during the City Council Meeting on April 25th, 2017 at the Riverside City Hall. Previous Robotics Summer Camp participants and La Sierra University students can become club members, and club membership is free.
