About
Drawcademy offers ongoing drawing classes that include a Kid’s Art Core Class, Quick Sketch Core Class, Illustration Lab Elective, and Private Lessons. Students take part in Kids Art classes, Quick Sketch classes, and Illustration Lab classes in both in-studio and online formats. All classes use a quick sketch method that recognizes quantity leads to quality, helps students focus on what is most important, and normalizes imperfection.
• Ages: 5–18 years old
• Schedule: Weekly Kids Art classes meet for 45 minutes, Quick Sketch classes meet once a week for 1 hour, Creator-level Quick Sketch and Illustration Lab meet twice a week for 1 hour each, and Apprentice-level Quick Sketch, Illustration Lab, and Private Lessons meet three times a week for 1 hour each, with options on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays.
• Price: Kids Art class, Age 5–8: $99 per month; Maker Quick Sketch class: $119 per month; Creator Quick Sketch and Illustration Lab classes: $238 $199 per month; Apprentice Quick Sketch, Illustration Lab, and Private Lessons: $500 per month.
Drawcademy states a mission of “Perfectionism. A philosophy & practice which puts the focus not on perfect drawings, but the work itself.” The program offers an Art Mastery Guarantee that students gain confidence and new art skills during the first month or money back. It also offers missed-class flexibility, allowing students to make up missed classes in person or online or follow along with notes and slides on an online platform, and runs on a month-to-month basis so families may quit at any time. Families are asked to bring their own simple drawing supplies so students can practice at home, with limited materials available for new students to borrow, and digital tools may be used, with instruction for digital, painting, and other mediums offered at workshops and private lessons.
Drawcademy describes itself as offering structured drawing classes for all ages, from beginners to advanced, and invites students to join a community and avoid self-taught struggles. The founder is Nate F. A parent testimonial from Peggy Sue C. describes Nate as a remarkable artist who shares his gift in a language kids can understand, notes that he is patient and kind while challenging students to be accountable and work outside their comfort zone, and states that her daughter has gained more confidence and new skills from his lessons. The program describes itself as “The Most Beloved Art School In Sacramento.”
