About

Bay Area Educational Theater Company Programs offers theater training through the Bay Area eTc educational, family-oriented, non-profit organization. The program focuses on creating quality theatrical productions while participants receive comprehensive theater training in a fun, safe, and nurturing environment.

Founded in 1996, Bay Area eTc is dedicated to fostering self-esteem, individuality, and teamwork while exposing participants and audiences to theater arts. The organization states that it welcomes diversity and contributes to the community by reinforcing the values of responsibility, commitment, integrity, and respect. Its mission is to work with children and adults to develop talents and provide learning experiences in theater production, with the goal of educating, inspiring, and creating community through high quality and affordable theatrical productions. Bay Area eTc is led by an all-volunteer Board of Directors that includes Scott Urman (President), Dina La Bove (Treasurer), Kim McIntire (Secretary), Theresa Budig (Director), Caren Cioffi-Weinshel (Director), Jeanne Hoffman (Director), Amye Hollandsworth (Director), Keith Koch (Director), Robert Mullen (Director), and Derick Punzalan (Director), along with Director Emeritus members Lori Adams, Jean Amabile, Frank Huybrechts, Debbie Meade, and Lorna Smith, Lifetime Member Kate Bartolomei, Advisors Letty Bombach, Sally Cristgau, Patty Grewell, Ria Lodick, Michelle Oberes-Padre, and Teen Advisor Bekah Garlikov. The organization states that it strives to represent the cultural diversity of its extended community by making its programs available to all and to bring theater to as many people as possible to expand and unite the community.

One parent, Patty G., describes Bay Area eTc as “a rock for my family for years,” noting that her child learned stage skills and confidence, that the summer camp is “wonderful and a great value,” and that both she and her child continue to volunteer with the organization. Another quoted line associated with the program is, “Living or dead, family is still family,” attributed to Morticia Addams.
