Each day, children are offered the opportunity to explore Art, Construction & Building, Dramatic Play, Language Arts, Manipulatives & Fine Motor Skills, Outdoor & Gross Motor activities, Music, and Science. The program includes both child-initiated and teacher-directed play, with independent and assisted activities available, and children are supervised while being encouraged to follow their own interests.
• Ages: 2–6 years old
Trinity Presbyterian Preschool has been enriching the lives of Bay Area families since 1958 as a cooperative preschool for children ages two to six years old. The co-op program affords families the opportunity to engage with their child while learning more about early childhood development, education, and parenting from experienced teaching staff. Experience centers are set up to introduce new concepts and challenges that encourage children to explore the limits of their imagination, in a child-directed environment with a low student-to-adult ratio and a healthy and safe environment.
The mission of Trinity Presbyterian Preschool states that it offers children a unique environment to learn how to do things for themselves and successfully interact with other people. Its play-based curriculum is stated to aim at kindergarten readiness and preparation for a lifetime of success in all endeavors by teaching children to be curious learners, critical thinkers, and problem solvers. The program’s educational philosophy includes principles such as gearing the school environment toward children, recognizing that development is continuous and individual, emphasizing interactions and relationships, viewing families as a child’s first teachers, and planning learning experiences to be purposeful, interactive, meaningful, relevant, active, playful, and challenging within each child’s abilities. The mission further states that play is the avenue for learning and that the ultimate goal is for children to become ready, able, competent, and eager learners.
Trinity Presbyterian Preschool states that it strives to promote cooperative early childhood education by teachers and parents working together; foster emotional, physical, social, intellectual, and spiritual growth of children; support families in the challenges of parenting and in times of personal crisis; and be a positive witness to and active contributor in the community. In 1987, the National Association for the Education of Young Children accredited Trinity and recommended it as a model for other preschools, and Trinity is licensed by the Department of Social Services of the State of California (License number 410509660). Trinity Presbyterian Preschool admits students of any race, color, national and ethnic origin and does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national and ethnic origin in administration of its policies and programs.
The program notes that 2026–27 enrollment is approaching, with the addition of a longer hours Twos class with add-on full day options and an afternoon, no co-op Pre-K Boost program.
