About

Nike Contact Football Camp at San Diego State University focuses on contact football through activities such as scrimmage, tackling drills, learning to tackle safely, and making tackles. Campers take part in position-focused training, including offense and defensive linemen reps, contact drills and scrimmages, and daily training to develop speed, strength, and agility. The camp also includes evening activities such as bowling night and a movie and game night.

• Ages: 8–18 years old
• Schedule: 4-day camp from 07/12/26–07/15/26
• Price: Full Day 4-day camp $834 (Includes all fees); Overnight 4-day camp $1,234 (Includes all fees)

The camp is led by Camp Director Jonas Jackson, whose coaching background includes roles as Defensive Line Coach for the Panthers football coaching staff starting in July 2022 and previous positions at Delaware State, Albany State (Ga.), Your Call Football, Savannah State (Ga.), West Virginia Wesleyan, Elancourt Templiers of the European Pro League, Illinois State, La Salle, Temple, and Arizona Western. During his career, Coach Jackson has coached 28 all-conference players, eight All-Americas, five all-region honorees, and one player-of-the-year. Campers train under professional instruction from Coach Jackson and staff, with low camper-to-coach ratios, grouping by age, weight, and ability, and discussions on proper technique and concussion safety. Each camper must bring their own equipment, as there is no rental equipment available, and campers receive a Nike Football Camp T-shirt and potentially other prizes.

Parent feedback mentions scrimmages, tackling drills, learning to tackle safely, and learning to play contact football as key parts of the experience. Parents and campers note that offense and defensive linemen had lots of reps, there was good competition, and coaches were described as friendly, welcoming, enthusiastic, engaged, and organized. Testimonials also highlight dorm living, instruction from coaches (including student athletes from Whittier College), coach involvement with kids, and nighttime activities as memorable parts of the camp. Several parents report that their children enjoyed making friends, interacting with other kids, and meeting coaches who accepted and believed in them, and one parent states that learning from professional and collegiate coaches is important for their child’s growth and progression in the sport.
