San Diego Beach Rides at Pony Land is a family-owned and operated business founded by Dan Winne and now run by his son Garret and Garret’s wife Jessica. After Dan Winne’s passing, Garret and Jessica continued the company and changed the name from Happy Trails to San Diego Beach Rides at Pony Land, and in 2016 they welcomed their son DJ to the ranch. Their stated mission is to share their love of animals, especially horses, through pony rides, a petting zoo, boarding, training, breeding American Quarter Horses, and event rentals. The ranch describes itself as kid friendly, laid back, and very friendly for beginners, and it highlights a top-quality breeding program supplying athletic and healthy American Quarter Horses.
One testimonial from Maeve F. from Nottingham, MD, describes San Diego Beach Rides at Pony Land as “the Best place to fulfill your dreams of riding HorseBack on the Beach,” noting beautiful, well-behaved horses, a guide named Connie, and the ability to see the border of Tijuana, Mexico on the beach ride. Another testimonial from Jay S. from Union, NJ, describes a “lovely experience” for a first-time rider, mentions clear explanations and a friendly guide named Christina, and notes that the reservation over the phone went smoothly and was easy to book.
