Community Music Center

Community Music Center is a nonprofit music school and performance space that offers ways to find a class or lesson, attend live performances, and take part in Open Mic Nights. The program also hosts events such as the Juliet McComas Keyboard Marathon, Field Day Performathon, and choral collaboration, and has performance spaces and rehearsal rooms available for rent.

Community Music Center was founded in 1921. Its mission statement is that Community Music Center makes high quality music accessible to people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities, regardless of financial means. The organization notes that it has a generous tuition assistance program and a full range of musical experiences. Community Music Center partners with many organizations across San Francisco to provide music programming for all ages. One testimonial describes a singer-songwriter and pianist who has performed at both of Community Music Center’s Open Mic Nights and compares the experience to other open mic events.
