About

Marsh Youth Theater offers classes and camps where kids take part in storytelling, creative dramatics, theater, puppetry, digital storytelling, comedy and improv, and music. The program includes multiple dance forms such as Hip Hop & World Dance, Afro-Peruvian Dance, Dances of the African Diaspora, Carnaval Dance class, and Capoeira, as well as trapeze through Bailando con Trapecios (Dancing with Trapezes). It also offers “Classical” Theatre (Plays, Playhouses, & Playfulness!), Spring Camps, Summer Camps, and Carnaval Parade & Festival participation, with multiple shows at Marsh Youth Theater and at partner sites.

Marsh Youth Theater states that it provides high quality skill-building classes for youth throughout San Francisco. The program partners with afterschool programs and community centers to bring Teaching Artists to sites throughout SFUSD. In a recent year, Marsh Youth Theater served 20 schools and 1,794 students with 10–14 week residencies and 103 different classes, and it currently has 3 summer camps. The MYT Program Director is Rebecca Cervantes.
