Afro-Peruvian Cajon classes provide cajons during class sessions, and students who own a cajon may bring their own. Camp CMC has a maximum of 25 students working in large and small ensembles. Prerequisites for Camp CMC include a minimum of two years of study on an instrument and concurrent enrollment in private lessons, with vocal students able to meet this requirement through participation in chorus or glee club, and students are asked to send a 2–3 minute video of a scale and a favorite solo piece to the camp director as a placement audition. Community Music Center, founded in 1921, is a nonprofit music school and performance space with branches in the Mission and Richmond Districts. Community Music Center states that it makes high quality music accessible to people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities, regardless of financial means, and offers a generous tuition assistance program. Community Music Center partners with many organizations across San Francisco to provide music programming for all ages.
