About

Bay Area Shakespeare Camp includes daily warmups, interactive classes in Shakespeare’s poetry, clowning traditions, and stage combat, and rehearsal for a final performance. Campers study Shakespeare’s theater and spend part of each afternoon in a two-hour rehearsal that leads to an abridged Shakespeare play for family and friends on the final day. Sessions are structured summer day camps for children of all experience levels, and experience is welcome but not required for Bay Area Shakespeare Camp programs for ages 7–15.

• Ages: 7–15 years old
• Schedule: Weekday day camp sessions in 2-week blocks (10 camp days or 9 camp days, as specified), with daily hours from 9am to 3pm
• Price: Enrollment Fee: $990 (Oakland School for the Arts, Sweets Ballroom site). Residents of SF zip codes 94112, 94124, and 94134 are eligible to enroll in camps at the McLaren Park venue for a substantial discount of 64% off the enrollment fee.

Professional theater practitioners lead the interactive classes in Shakespeare’s poetry, clowning traditions, and stage combat. The San Francisco Shakespeare Festival’s mission is to make the words and themes of Shakespeare accessible to everyone, regardless of age, ethnicity, financial status or level of education, and to encourage broad participation in the arts by lowering practical and perceptual barriers. Through a partnership with San Francisco Rec & Park, residents of specific San Francisco zip codes receive a substantial discount on enrollment at the McLaren Park venue. Scholarship assistance is available for families in need, and discounts are available through the Camp Family Referral Program.
