About

Bay Area Shakespeare Camp offers summer day camps where campers study Shakespeare’s theater through interactive classes and rehearsals. Each day includes warmups, interactive classes in Shakespeare’s poetry, clowning traditions, and stage combat, followed by rehearsal for the final performance. Camp sessions culminate in an abridged Shakespeare play for family and friends on the final day.

• Ages: 7–15 years old
• Schedule: Weekday 2-week sessions, 9am–3pm
• Price: Enrollment Fee: $990

Professional theater practitioners lead the interactive classes in Shakespeare’s poetry, clowning traditions, and stage combat. The San Francisco Shakespeare Festival’s mission is to make the words and themes of Shakespeare accessible to everyone, regardless of age, ethnicity, financial status or level of education, by lowering practical and perceptual barriers and encouraging broad participation in the arts. Through a partnership with San Francisco Rec & Park, residents of SF zip codes 94112, 94124, and 94134 are eligible for a 64% discount on the enrollment fee at the McLaren Park venue. Scholarship assistance is available for families in need, and discounts are available through the Camp Family Referral Program. Experience is welcome but not required for Bay Area Shakespeare Camp programs for ages 7–15.
