About

STEMful offers hands-on STEM programs that blend science, technology, engineering, art, and math in a full STEAM experience. The program name comes from STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) and includes art to create this STEAM focus. Families can choose from school break camps, summer camps, afterschool programs, and an “a la carte” option for care on an odd day or two, and kids in these programs get plenty of outdoor time and go on trips to the park.

• Ages: 2–10 years old
• Schedule: Program hours are available Monday–Friday from 9:30 am to 6:00 pm PT, and on Saturdays from 9:30 am to 1:00 pm PT between September and April

STEMful’s mission is to build children’s confidence around how the world works by guiding them through an engaging, project-based STEM curriculum. The founder, Kim Nguyen-Ehrenreich, earned a bachelor’s degree in zoology with a concentration in marine biology and a master’s degree in oceanography, worked on research vessels and in submersibles two thousand meters below the surface of the Gulf of Mexico, and later built and led a cardiovascular science research lab in collaboration with world-renowned scientists.

One parent, Sarah Nelson, reports that her child has learned about centrifugal force, kinetic energy, optical illusions, and other science concepts through play in the afterschool program. Another parent, Erin L Gardner, describes STEMful as educational, flexible, and a place where children go on fun trips to the park, and notes that staff have supported a child with special needs with an open mind and heart. Parent Katie Loux notes that her 7-year-old and 4-year-old enjoy the camps, appreciates the “a la carte” option for occasional care, and mentions that the staff are warm and the kids get plenty of outdoor time. Parent Natanya B. shares that her 6-year-old has attended camp several times, has always had a great time, and that she has consistently felt her child is in a safe place that is fun, stimulating, and educational.
