About the provider

Steppin' Out Dance Studio began in 1995. Angela Rose Dorantes is the current owner and director, and Angela Rose and Avilee Goodwin founded the studio in 1995. The studio was named a San Francisco Legacy Business in 2025. Its stated mission says it offers supportive and inspiring classes for a diverse mix of young dancers in a wide range of styles, and that it has offered the young people of the neighborhood a place to learn dance technique, improve grace, poise, self-esteem, and gain performance experience in a nurturing atmosphere. The studio has served the children of the Mission District since the 1930s through the historic Betty May Dance Studios, and it provides a year-end performance and observation days during the fall semester.

Registration for fall 2026 begins on August 3, 2026. Classes that do not reach a minimum of five students will be cancelled with full refunds. Families may cancel within 3 weeks of the class start date. The $15 registration fee per class is never refundable. Students may take a single trial class for $24 if the class is not at maximum enrollment. Dancers who want to participate in the end-of-year performance are allowed no more than four absences total in spring semester. Masks are optional.
