Moving Arts Academy of Dance

Moving Arts Academy of Dance offers Pre-Primary Ballet, Primary Ballet, Ballet I, Ballet II, Ballet III, Ballet IV, Ballet V, Ballet V & VI, Teen/Pre-Teen Beginning Ballet, Repertory, private lessons, and camps and intensives. Ballet I focuses on classical ballet fundamentals, including basic technique, body alignment, terminology, musicality, barre, and center work. Camps and intensives include a daily dance class, choreography exploration, dance games, arts and crafts, and a visit to nearby Balboa Park for lunch and free time.

Programs

• Pre-Primary Ballet — For ages 3-4 · Saturdays, 9:15-10:00am · Designed to gently introduce youngest students to a structured and safe classroom environment, while building physical and emotional confidence.
• Primary Ballet — For ages 5-7 · Saturdays, 10:00-11:00am · Prelude to formal ballet instruction; introduces children to music and movement through structured progression emphasizing creativity and group interaction.
• Ballet I — Saturdays, 11:00am-12:30pm · Focuses on the fundamentals of classical ballet, including basic technique, body alignment, terminology, musicality, barre, and center work.
• Ballet II — Wednesdays, 4:30-5:30pm; Thursdays, 4:30-5:30pm; Fridays, 5:00-7:00pm · Continues focus on port de bra, advanced directions of the body, and increased movement vocabulary in adagio, petit, and grand allegro.
• Ballet III — Wednesdays, 5:30-7:30pm; Thursdays, 5:30-7:30pm
• Ballet IV — Mondays, 5:30-8:00pm; Wednesdays, 5:30-8:00pm; Thursdays, 5:30-8:00pm
• Ballet V — Mondays, 5:30-8:00pm
• Ballet V & VI — Mondays, 5:30-8:00pm; Wednesdays, 5:30-8:00pm; Thursdays, 5:30-8:00pm
• Teen/Pre-Teen Beginning Ballet — Tuesdays, 5:30-6:30pm
• Repertory — Saturdays, 10:00am-1:00pm
• Private lessons — Please call or email to schedule half-hour or full hour private lessons.
• Camps & Intensives — Ages 5 and up · Dance camps for all levels. Camps include a daily dance class, choreography exploration, dance games, arts and crafts, and a visit to nearby Balboa Park for lunch and free time.

Through the foundation, it offers full and partial scholarships to talented and committed young students, and residencies to Bay Area choreographers.

Fall/Spring enrollment is open through the first month of each semester (September and January) or until classes fill up. Free trial class is offered when space permits. Class enrollments are not prorated if starting after the beginning of the session. Late arrival policy: dancers more than 10 minutes late will not be permitted to attend class and will observe class. A handbook is given each year and students need to read and sign it. Cancellation/refund policies are listed for semesters, camps, and intensives.
