About
Educare California at Silicon Valley – Early Learning Classrooms & Family Resource Center is an early childhood school focused on early childhood education, teacher professional development, and family service. The program uses a research-based model that builds social-emotional and cognitive skills, with programming and instructional support that develop early skills and nurture strong parent-child relationships. It includes twelve high quality, full day, year-round classrooms for children ages 0–5 and a Family Resource Center that offers free parenting classes, health classes, connections to free health and development screenings and care, supportive services, and a satellite public library.

The program operates in a 35,000 square foot facility that includes a Teacher Professional Development Institute, learning technology for teacher training programs, sixteen state-of-the-art classrooms, multiple indoor and outdoor learning spaces, and a resource center for families and the community. It serves as the region and state’s leading professional development and research institute for early childhood education professionals, with a Professional Development Institute that provides high quality training to early education providers and K–8 teachers. The mission of Educare California at Silicon Valley is: “Our high-quality early learning services and resources give young children the best start to life.” It is a comprehensive early childhood program aimed at preventing the achievement gap between children in poverty and their middle-income peers and is described as a state-of-the-art, full-day, year-round school serving at-risk children from birth to five years.
Partners include the Silicon Valley Leadership Group, the David and Lucile Packard Foundation, FIRST 5 Santa Clara County, Franklin-McKinley School District, Health Trust, Santa Clara County Office of Education, East Side Union High School District, and the national Educare Learning Network. Educare serves the Santee community in East San Jose, one of the most financially disadvantaged areas in Silicon Valley, and the institute will partner with the region’s colleges and universities. The leadership team includes Dennis Cima, Senior Vice President, Silicon Valley Leadership Group; Carl Guardino, President and CEO, Silicon Valley Leadership Group; and Carol Larson, President and CEO, the David and Lucile Packard Foundation.
