Maloney’s Martial Arts offers children’s martial arts classes that include Kenpo, American Karate, functional fitness training, and self-defense techniques. The program also includes mental and emotional self-defense, along with day camps and special events. Maloney’s Martial Arts is described as having a family atmosphere where “we all grow together.”

• Ages: 4–18 years old
• Schedule: Class options are available Mondays through Fridays at various times during late mornings, midday, and evenings.

Maloney’s Martial Arts teaches practical and effective physical, mental, and emotional self-defense techniques and functional fitness training with life skills, with an emphasis on mental and emotional strength and avoiding the need for physical self-defense when possible. Principles taught in the program include Preventive Defense, Awareness, Looking for the Good in all People and in all Situations, Understanding Self-Control, and Always Create Peace and Harmony, with a focus on excellence in form, detail, teamwork, harmony, energy, knowledge, ability, effort, respect, control, and peace. The program offers no contracts, no enrollment fees, no cancellation fees, no testing fees, complimentary make-up lessons, and priority reservations for day camps and special events. Courses are described as helping build self-esteem for all ages and focusing on work ethic, self-control, and discipline in young students, with an emphasis on using mental and emotional self-defense on a daily basis.

The school is led by Jerry Maloney, who started Karate classes in 1976. He began managing the school in 1985, his instructor Lee Thompson turned the school over to him in 1995, and he changed the name to Maloney’s Martial Arts in 2016. April 14, 2020 marked 38 years since he returned to karate in 1982. Maloney’s Martial Arts was awarded “Best Martial Arts” in Silicon Valley in 2023.
