Mandala Children's House

Mandala Children’s House offers Cocoons, a nurturing first preschool class with simple activities, music, movement, and floor play for young 2-year olds. It also offers Caterpillars, a preparatory class with hands-on learning activities and Montessori materials, Ladybugs, a traditional Montessori preschool class with academic skills learned through Montessori materials and whole-body activities, and Dragonflies, a longer preschool day for pre-Kindergartners. The program also includes Social Butterflies social skills and friendship class, Squiggles and Wiggles sensory-motor skills class, and Scissors and Scribbles fine motor and writing class for currently enrolled students.

• Subsidized Child Care Program for Low-Income Families — Parents needing child care have this option available. Uses Mandala-affiliated licensed family child care homes.
• Private Pay Child Care Program — Parents needing child care have this option available. Uses Mandala-affiliated licensed family child care homes.

At a glance

• Ages: 2–5 years old
• General schedule: Children are intentionally mixed in age at Work Time. They are placed with peers of their own age or developmental level for Table Time learning and Small Group. Children remain with their same Small Group teacher throughout the year.
• Facility hours: Office Hours (During School Year) Monday-Thursday: 8:45 am – 3:30 pm; Friday: 8:45 am - 2:30 pm; Office Hours (During Summer) Monday-Friday: 9:00 am – 2:30 pm

About the provider

Mandala Children’s House was founded in 1975 and has served preschool aged children in the Bay Area for 50 years. Its mission says the school was created to serve the children and families of the East Foothills community of San Jose, follows a developmental model enhanced by the learning practice of Maria Montessori, and values academics, emotional literacy, character development, and the individuality of each child. Tabatha Woods is the Family Childcare Program Manager. The school has been voted Best Montessori School in Silicon Valley for seven years and running and voted Silicon Valley’s Best Montessori Preschool by Bay Area Parent.

Registration for the 2026/2027 school year is now open. Rolling admissions process and enroll children year-round as space allows. Enrichment classes are open only to currently enrolled students. For child care, parents may call the Family Childcare Program Manager.
