About

Bay Area Chess Enrichment offers chess lessons, practice tournament games, online chess classes, and organized practice events. The program includes activities such as the BAC Los Gatos Chess Club, BAC Rising Star Event, BAC Tournament Team, USCF-rated events, camps, classes, clubs, and teams, and also uses Chesskid.com as part of its offerings.

• Schedule: BAC Los Gatos Chess Club meets every Saturday from 3pm–5pm; BAC Rising Star Event is scheduled for Saturday March 21th from 9:45am–11:30am; BAC Tournament Team meets on select Saturdays from 12pm–2pm; upcoming spring online chess classes run from 3/4–4/17 with options on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays

Bay Area Chess Enrichment offers both in-person and online class options, with online sessions held via Zoom and Chesskid. The Wednesday online class is listed as a Beginner to Advanced Class, Thursday options include a New Players/Beginners Class and a Beginner to Intermediate Class, and Friday features a Beginner to Advanced II Class. All USCF-rated events use the tournament website, while all camps, classes, clubs, Chesskid.com activities, practice events, and teams use the enrichment website, and the two sites use different login credentials.

Bay Area Chess Enrichment is led by Salman Azhar, Founder of BayAreaChess. Bay Area Chess has been active from 2008–2026 and states its mission as: “To introduce children of all ages to everything that Chess has to offer, socially and academically, in the Bay Area and Beyond!” Bay Area Chess is the #1 USCF affiliate west of Texas for 10+ years running (2008–2026) and was named 2018 Chess Club of the Year by the US Chess Federation.
