Young Engineers South Bay offers after-school enrichment classes, pre-school classes, summer camps, birthday parties, and special events. Children spend their time building with LEGO models as part of the program’s activities. The program also offers an option for a birthday party experience that centers on building LEGO models.
• Ages: 4–14 years old
• Schedule: Lessons are about 45 minutes for pre-school ages 4–6, 60 minutes for elementary school 1st–4th grade, 60–75 minutes for elementary school 1st–5th grade, 75 minutes for 4th–8th grade or Young Engineers’ LEGO Challenge graduates, 60 or 90 minutes for 4th–6th grade or graduates of one of the mechanical engineering programs, 90 minutes for 6th–9th grade, and 90–120 minutes for birthday party activities building LEGO models
e² Young Engineers was established in 2008. The program’s stated goal is to make a revolution in the education sector and provide children with the skills they need to succeed in the 21st century. It introduces children to theoretical and practical knowledge of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) using an EDUTAINMENT (education entertainment) approach that turns the learning process into a game. The program includes activities for children of different abilities and also offers a Senior Citizen program. Young Engineers South Bay works with schools and centers throughout the area so children can experience these programs firsthand.
