Luna Gallery and Eco Art Studio’s stated purpose is to provide the public with educational experiences in the arts and ecology through visual art exhibitions, programs, events, classes, and workshops. The organization is a non-profit art gallery and studio that provides two spaces for art experiences connecting audiences with local and regional artists and mentors, develops, and educates student, emerging, and professional artists through opportunities to showcase their creative work, teach, and learn. Luna Gallery and Eco-Arts Studio collaborates with other nonprofits, cities, counties, and local educational agencies to provide arts programming and workshops for adults and children, including eco art lessons for students in the Aromas School afterschool program.
The Eco Art Studio programs are led in part by Jennifer Colby, PhD, who also serves on the Board of Directors along with Valerie Mishkin, Isabel Cruz, Sandra Arretche, and Victoria Tamayo. Luna Gallery has received an Express Grant from the San Benito Arts Council three years in a row to offer eco art and art and healing workshops. Testimonials note that students in the Aromas School afterschool program receive eco art lessons with Luna Gallery and highlight visiting Elkhorn Slough, and that poets and musicians perform at Luna Gallery art receptions in the visual art environment.
