Teatro de Nosotros is a youth teatro program that is listed with registration open for June through July. Families connected with this program can also take part in Teatro Family Day activities such as outdoor entertainment, musical acts, dance acts, a special performance by Teatro Camp youth performers, carnival games, and raffles.

El Teatro Campesino, which runs teatro programming including Teatro de Nosotros, was founded in 1965 and summarizes its work into three core areas: Professional Arts, Community Arts, and Arts Education. Its mission is to make teatro a creator of vibrant community, and it is celebrating 60 years of teatro chicano. Proceeds from food sales, raffles, and suggested donations at Teatro Family Day directly support community and educational programming, and the event also offers budget friendly food vendors and ways to learn more about El Teatro Campesino. Luis Valdez is the founding artistic director, has taught at the University of California, Berkeley, UC Santa Cruz, and Fresno State University, and was one of the founding professors of CSU Monterey Bay. El Teatro Campesino is described as the most important and longest running Chicano theater in the United States, and Luis Valdez’s company has received numerous LA Drama Critic Awards, Dramalogue Awards, Bay Area Critics Awards, the George Peabody Award for excellence in television, the Presidential Medal of the Arts, the Governor’s Award from the California Arts Council, and Mexico’s Aguila Azteca Award. Luis Valdez was inducted into the College of Fellows of the American Theatre at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts and was awarded a Rockefeller fellowship as one of fifty US artists so honored across the United States.
