Some Saturday Event Clinics highlight specific experiences, such as a Parkour & Trampoline Combo Clinic that invites kids to “come flip with flair in a safe, nurturing environment,” and an Aerial Silks Clinic where classes teach aerial skills that build memory, strength, coordination, confidence, and endurance, and where silks are described as a way to learn flipping safely. The Bars & Bounce Clinic focuses on building whole-body strength swinging on bars and bouncing on trampolines, and includes learning trampoline and skill safety for home practice. Open Play & Gym Jam offers one hour of supervised Open Play followed by one hour of Gym Jam, with the option to sign up for one hour or both, and families can also get a preview of new competitive Parkour Team classes or join just for the day.
Performance Athletics Gymnastics states that it offers FUN & Fitness for all ages in its camps, classes, parties, and special events, and that Saturday Event Clinics are FUN for all and open to all levels. The program notes an emphasis on coordination and body efficiency with individual flair, and uses a “whole-child” approach with the primary goal of helping build strong, healthy, happy, and confident people of all ages. The gym states that “Every Child is a Star” and receives equal attention from teachers, that PA Gym is a positive work and athlete training environment, and that it nurtures a culture of caring and mutual respect, with safety and risk reduction listed as top priorities.
Performance Athletics was founded in 2003 on the central coast of SLO County and reports that it has been proudly serving the community since 2003. The leadership team for Performance Athletics Gymnastics includes Leslie (Owner / Coach), Kasey (Office Manager / Coach), and Mac (Gym Manager / Coach). The staff hold USAG and/or NGA Safety, Annual Concussion Certification, Abuse Prevention, CPR, AED and First Aid certifications, and are background checked/finger printed and/or screened via NCSI and/or SLO PD.
Owner Leslie Breeze and her coaching staff have received numerous awards for their personal athletic achievements and have been recognized at the state, regional, and national levels for competitions in artistic gymnastics, cheerleading, tumbling, dance, and/or sports acrobatics. Since opening in 2003, Performance Athletics has maintained membership in good standing with national governing bodies, including NorCal Women's Gymnastics Association and NorCal Boys Gymnastics Association, and in 2020 the gym left USAG and joined NGA (National Gymnastics Association). The program’s mission states: “Where fun and fitness flip together in a safe, nurturing environment that welcomes people of all ages and abilities, Performance Athletics Gymnastics educates and inspires our students to cultivate the joy of an active lifestyle.”
Parent and grandparent testimonials describe long-term participation and observed changes. One grandparent shares that a grandson began at 18 months and at age 8 has taken many classes and camps, stating that each discipline has helped him in physical and mental areas and that “each skill has purpose which connects to the next,” and thanks Leslie for creating opportunities for kids and adults. Another parent notes seeing how much fun her child is having and how strong he has become since the beginning of the year, and adds that “it gives him confidence in his body and himself.”
