About
CAPSLO Migrant and Seasonal Head Start (MSHS) offers educational services along with health and nutrition services for children. The program also provides behavioral health services as part of its support for enrolled children and their families. It offers services in a center-based setting or through a family child care option, close to where families live and work.

Since 1981, CAPSLO Migrant and Seasonal Head Start has provided child care programs with the needs of migrant farm working families in mind. The program serves families with children from birth through age five, with some additional services for pregnant women. To be eligible, families’ income must primarily be earned from the agricultural industry, and the program operates in agricultural communities in nine counties: Fresno, Kern, Monterey, Orange, Santa Barbara, San Benito, San Joaquin, San Luis Obispo, and Ventura. The program welcomes children with special needs and focuses on the child’s overall health and development. It is described as providing comprehensive or wraparound services and as a program that cares about the family and not just the child. Community Action Partnership of San Luis Obispo County addresses the causes of poverty, empowering low-income people to achieve self-sufficiency through community-based collaborations and programs, and also addresses the causes of poverty through community-based collaborations and programs. The program helps parents increase their confidence through education and program involvement opportunities.
