About

Learn to Bike Camp Burlingame introduces kids to biking through a half-day Learn to Bike day camp. The program focuses on a thoughtful progression of skills, including walking their bikes, scooting downhill, coasting with their feet up, touching the pedals, and finally pedaling. It is intended for first-time riders or kids using training wheels or balance bikes, not those who can already ride.

• Ages: 3–6 years old
• Schedule: One-week sessions, Monday–Friday, with morning camp only
• Price: AM Session Price $460; Early Drop Off starting at 8 AM $40

Aspiring cyclists ages three and a half to six learn the joys of self-sufficient cycling in this half-day camp, which runs from 8:30 AM to 11:30 AM. Camper-to-staff ratios of 5:1 allow for individual attention and personalized coaching in a supportive on-site environment. Campers are strongly encouraged to use their own bikes, but they may also borrow from the camp’s fleet, and all campers must be toilet trained by the start of camp.

Avid4 Adventure states that every activity starts with a discussion about the risks involved, including what they are, how to prevent them, and how to respond if something goes wrong. The organization reports that it does everything in its power to keep kids safe while giving them the knowledge and confidence to take calculated, well-communicated risks. Avid4 Adventure describes itself as the home of multi-sport adventure, using professional-caliber equipment and running programs that evolve as campers grow from age 3 to 17.

Avid4 Instructors are all 18 and older with credentials and safety and skills training, and the leadership team includes Founder David Secunda, former president of the Outdoor Industry Association and a 25-year veteran of the outdoor education industry. Avid4 Adventure’s mission statement is that it believes in the transformative power of the outdoors. The organization is a Certified B Corp, is accredited by the American Camp Association, and has been named among Colorado Parent’s Top 5 Sports Camps. Avid4 Adventure operates under a Special Use authorization from the National Forest Service and is an Equal Opportunity Employer.

The camp is backed by the Avid4 Adventure Guarantee, which states that Avid4 Adventure promises to provide an authentic outdoor adventure, incredibly well-trained and professional staff, and increased confidence, and if these promises are not met, the next Avid4 Adventure camp is free. The organization notes that it recognizes Avid4 Adventure as a premium camp, recruits, hires, and trains high-class outdoor educators, and is 100% committed to paying educators a fair wage. A referral program offers families the option to give friends $50 off their first camp and receive a $50 coupon for a future 2026 camp when those friends make a purchase.

Parent testimonials describe children learning to ride without training wheels during camp and continuing to build skills afterward, staff who are mature, responsible, and excited to share their passion with kids, and campers who stay active every day and talk about camp long after it ends.
