About
Colts Swim School offers small group swim lessons, youth and adult private swim lessons, and Pony Express: Summer Intensive Swim Lessons, along with activities such as open lap swim, Masters Swimming, Tri-Training, aqua strength and cardio-training, water walking, gentle swim, and Aqua-Aerobics. The program also includes structured group workouts that focus on stroke development and open water skills, as well as water-exercise and other specialty aquatics programs.
• Ages: 3–18 years old
• Schedule: Colts Swim School classes are offered on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday afternoons and evenings, on Saturdays during the day, with private lessons available on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays; Pony Express Summer Intensive Swim Lessons run as week-long sessions in July with 45-minute classes in the mornings.
All Colts Swim School students must be potty trained. Swim levels are named after small horses, and there are five levels where children can develop swimming skills and learn basic strokes. All aquatics instructors are Red Cross certified and have a wide range of swimming and teaching experience, and professional, certified instructors and deck staff are dedicated to providing the best possible swim experience. The program is part of an aquatics department whose mission states that it is dedicated to providing students with high-quality instruction tailored to individual needs and experience level, maintaining a fun, safe and engaging learning environment, and building a strong foundation of swimming fundamentals, strokes and water safety, while delivering service to students, faculty and community and providing quality facilities. The Athletic Center describes itself as a community connection to education and fitness and focuses on serving students, faculty and community members. The leadership team includes Diane Bayne, Kirk Richards, and Meg Summa, and the facility features an integrated design and equipment that support an “upward spiraling” of students, faculty and community members.
