Math & Language Tutoring offers math tutoring, literacy tutoring, and one-on-one support for students. The program focuses on closing knowledge gaps rather than only completing homework. These tutoring offerings are part of a broader set of programs organized by the community for the community in schools, homes, and community centers.
• Ages: 5–14 years old
Started in 2014 as a grassroots initiative, Math & Language Tutoring grew out of a group of youth, parents, friends, and neighbors in San Pablo and Richmond who are interested in the material and spiritual advancement of their community. Since 2021, the program has partnered with Coherent Development Research Institute to offer math and literacy tutoring to elementary and middle school students. The tutoring program is part of a global training program and movement of communities who take ownership of their own development, and it is inspired by the teachings of Baha'u'llah, including principles of unity in diversity, equality of men and women, and the moral and material education of children, with a stated goal of building a more unified world.
