WINTER IS MEANT TO BE EXPLORED.

​Cold air. Muddy trails. Rain puddles. Moss-covered logs. Fog drifting through the trees. The shoreline changing with the season. Winter doesn't mean staying inside!

​It means discovering a whole new side of nature.

​At Snails & Turkey Tails, children spend their winter break outdoors - exploring, playing, building, climbing, creating, searching for wildlife, and following their curiosity.

​We bundle up, put on our boots, and head outside.

​Because some of childhood's best adventures happen when you don't mind getting a little muddy.


WHAT WILL WE DO?

Every winter day brings something different.

​Your child might:

  • Explore forest trails and the shoreline
  • Search for birds, bugs, animal tracks, and other signs of wildlife
  • Investigate puddles, mud, moss, leaves, and natural treasures
  • Build forts and creations from sticks, stones, and other natural materials
  • Climb, balance, scramble, run, and move
  • Create art inspired by the winter landscape
  • Invent imaginative games and outdoor adventures
  • Gather around for stories and songs
  • Watch for changes in weather and the natural world
  • Make friends through shared play and exploration

There isn't a prescribed list of activities that every child has to complete. We follow the children's curiosity and let nature help shape the day.

YES, WE PLAY IN WINTER WEATHER

We don't believe rain automatically means the adventure is cancelled. In fact, rain can make the natural world even more interesting.

​Puddles appear.

Creeks change.

Moss comes alive.

The forest smells different.

Mud becomes irresistible.

Children experience firsthand how the world around them changes with the seasons.

We play outdoors in a variety of weather conditions, except when conditions are unsafe. Good layers and appropriate rain gear make all the difference!

Camp Refund and Cancellation PolicyFamily Cancellation Policy: As a small, nature-based program, we plan staffing, materials, permits, and site logistics well in advance based on enrollment. Families may receive a refund, minus a $50 processing fee, for cancellations made at least 30 days before the start of the program.Cancellations made less than 30 days before the program start date are non-refundable. Program Cancellation by Snails & Turkey Tails:Snails & Turkey Tails reserves the right to cancel, postpone, or modify programs due to instructor illness or injury, emergencies, weather, low enrollment, or other circumstances beyond our control. In the event that Snails & Turkey Tails cancels a program, families will receive a full refund or credit for the value of the canceled program, which may be used toward a future Snails & Turkey Tails program within 12 months.Right to Refuse Service:Snails & Turkey Tails reserves the right to refuse or discontinue service or enrollment at its sole discretion.By registering, you acknowledge and agree to these policies. Snails & Turkey Tails Nature School is a small, outdoor early childhood program rooted in connection, curiosity, and meaningful experiences in nature. Through play-based learning, hands-on exploration, and daily adventure, children build confidence, resilience, and a deep relationship with the natural world in a warm and nurturing community.
