CYS Basketball Fall Program

San Jose Community Youth Service (CYS) offers a variety of activities for youth, including dance, individual and team sports, basketball, bowling, golf, judo, tennis, and volleyball. The program is rooted in Japanese American values and focuses on engaging regional youth in activities that foster teamwork, sportsmanship, and community involvement.

• Schedule: CYS Board Meetings are held monthly, typically on the 2nd Monday of each month at 8:00pm

Founded in 1961, CYS is an active part of the Japanese American community in San Jose, providing opportunities for youth to develop skills, build self-esteem, and create life-long friendships. The organization is parent-run, with parental participation being a tradition necessary in every facet of the organization. The leadership team includes Kristy Hayashida as President and various commissioners for each activity, ensuring a well-structured program. Membership is open to anyone committed to serving, maintaining, and nurturing the Nikkei community.
