The National Academy of Athletics was founded in 2012. Its mission states that it was founded on the belief that sports have the ability to change lives, and that its mission is to help every child develop confidence, character, resilience, and communication skills through meaningful, well-designed sports experiences. The organization describes its approach with phrases such as “Building Healthy Bodies and Happy Hearts,” “Play Hard. Have Fun.” and “talk.teach.PLAY!”

The program uses an expert-designed curriculum, positive and character-based coaching, and a safety-first approach. It offers age-appropriate programs for ages 3–6 and 6–14, and every session follows behavior-positive coaching and age-appropriate progressions. NAofA Coach Certification includes training in safety, communication, positive coaching, and fingerprinting, and the staff is described as certified and fingerprinted coaches with a certified coaching staff. One coach reports being provided with all the proper equipment and gear to ensure children and players have everything they need in order to play hard and have fun.

The National Academy of Athletics reports being trusted by more than 200 schools and cities, having served over 1 million kids, and operating a national franchise network. It partners with cities, schools, recreation departments, and community organizations to deliver turnkey youth sports solutions that reduce staff burden while increasing participation and community engagement, and to provide safe, affordable, high-quality programs that enrich communities and support families year-round. It is described as a youth sports program provider for schools and city recreation centers, with city, school, and league partnerships and local leadership in every territory.

The National Academy of Athletics was founded by Aaron Locks, who launched the organization with 44 programs across 3 cities. Testimonials describe Aaron Locks and his team as having exceptional leadership and expertise, and note his passion for helping kids and teaching valuable life skills through sports and play. One testimonial states that Aaron Locks has revolutionized youth sports development with a program that combines skill-building, confidence development, and fun, and another notes that NA of A is filled with mentors and coaches whose culture has an impact on players’ skillset, mindset, and overall health.
