Expressions Dance & Movement Center

Expressions Dance & Movement Center offers Boppin' Babies, a parent/child movement class for ages 1-2 years old that does not perform, and Tippy Toes for ages 2-3 years old, which begins with a parent in the classroom and then moves to independent participation. It also offers Mini 1 and Mini 2 classes for 3- and 4-year-olds, plus ballet, tap, jazz, acro, hip hop, musical theater, lyrical, and contemporary classes.

• Tippy Toes — 2-3 years old · Independence-building class. Begins with a parent in the classroom and gradually moves to independent participation. Performs at an in-studio showcase at the end of the dance year in June.
• Mini 1 Classes — 3 years old by September 1st of the current dance year · Mini classes for young dancers in a nurturing, fun, and safe environment.
• Mini 2 Classes — 4 years old by September 1st of the current dance year · Mini classes for young dancers in a nurturing, fun, and safe environment.
• Ballet — Available as a class style.
• Tap — Available as a class style.

About the provider

The studio opened in January 2011. Its about page says it has been at Carlton Oaks Plaza for the past 14 years and grew from 65 students to over 700, from 1 classroom to 6, and from one assistant to 30 team members. The mission statement says it teaches dance classes that nurture every child and partner with parents in their child's development, and the studio notes community performances, service projects with chapters of the National Honor Society for Dance Arts, assisting in dance classes, and performances at local events such as the Santee Street Fair, Disneyland, the San Diego County Fair, and the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade with the Spirit of America dance team.

Emphasizes age-appropriate music, choreography, and costumes. Boppin' Babies does not perform. Tippy Toes performs at an in-studio showcase at the end of the dance year in June.
