Shafter Recreation and Park District Youth Sports Programs include Youth Basketball, Youth Soccer, Flag Football, Cross Country, Spring Ball (Baseball/Softball), Volleyball, Tennis Camp, and the Live Better Fitness Program. The Youth Basketball program is described as teaching sportsmanship, respect, and teamwork. The Youth Soccer league is sanctioned with USA Soccer and emphasizes both individual growth and teamwork with a focus on fun and fair play, and the Volleyball league offers a supportive environment for players of all skill levels. Shafter Recreation's NFL Flag Football program is a non-contact sport, and the Tennis Camp has two age divisions, 5–10 and 11–14, with kids aged 10 having the option to play up to the older division.

The 746 Sports Foundation, established in 2018, is the nonprofit partner of the Shafter Recreation and Park District and is dedicated to removing financial barriers to youth sports by providing scholarships that cover registration costs. Shafter Recreation is part of the Live Better Community Health Education Program in partnership with Kern Family Healthcare. Shafter Recreation invites businesses and community members to help bring its new sports complex to life and presents Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum Sponsors for 2025. Shafter Recreation also seeks individuals who want to give back to the Shafter community by dedicating their time, patience, and effort to coaching youth. PG&E offers essential natural gas and electric services and is described as aiming to be a dependable partner in energy needs, promoting sustainability and a brighter future both locally and beyond.
