After-School Tuesdays: Artist Adventures into Landscapes

Let your imagination take shape! In this hands-on art class, young artists will explore landscapes and the world around them through creative 2D and 3D art experiences. Recycled materials will lead the way, inspiring students to discover new possibilities and let the materials themselves inform what they create. From rolling hills and towering mountains to magical forests and imaginative environments, students will experiment with color, texture, shape, and form to bring their ideas to life.
Using recycled and found materials alongside a variety of traditional art supplies, students will create layered landscapes, sculptural elements, and dimensional artworks. Through playful experimentation and creative problem-solving, they’ll develop their artistic skills, resourcefulness, and confidence. This class encourages curiosity, imaginative thinking, and a spirit of discovery as children learn to see the world from new perspectives and transform everyday materials into unique works of art.
Together, we will learn:
How to use watercolor techniques to create atmosphere, light, and mood
How scale and perspective help landscapes feel deep and believable
How foreground, middle ground, and background create space in an artwork
How color, texture, and detail can transform an imagined environment
How landscapes can tell stories without words
By the end of the class, each child will have created their own richly-imagined landscape artwork full of creativity, detail, and personal expression. A perfect class for kids who love drawing, painting, nature, world-building, and creating places from their imagination.

Policies
We ask that you notify us at least 10 days in advance of a class if you need to cancel your registration. You may cancel by phone or email and we will gladly offer you a refund or credit toward a future class. If you cancel with less than 10 days’ notice, we will not be able to provide refunds, due to our contractual obligations and material purchases for each class.
Sometimes, the Sonoma Community Center has to cancel a class due to low enrollment or unforeseen circumstances, such as a natural disaster or health emergency. If this happens and we do not offer a reschedule date, you will be refunded 100% of your registration fee (minus the payment processing and services fee), or credit towards a future class. Enrichment.kids platform and credit card payment processing fees are non-refundable, the Sonoma Community Center does not hold these funds. If we are able to offer a reschedule date but you are unable to make the new date, we will gladly offer credit towards a future class.
