Creative Movement & Dance (3 - 5)

The class is designed as a young child’s first independent movement class. Instruction will include warm-ups exercises, basic elements of dance an dballet positions, across the floor movement, and a creative dance through the use of stories, props and games. Age appropriate songs and dance forms from around the world are also incorporated into this class. Benefits include listening skills and concentration, increased coordination, and an understanding of movement, i.e. time, space, directions and balance, social skills and development of creativity.
This session is designed not only for instruction but with a sweet and free recital at the end of the session. All dances and practices will be in class. All teachers and community Center staff will be helping to curate a wonderful performing experience for our dancers of all ages.
SUPPLY LIST: Dance shoes, ballet slippers, grippy socks or barefoot are needed.. Please no socks (grippy kind ok) or just tights as the floor can be slippery. Comfortable clothing to move in or dancewear such as leotards, skirts, skirted leotards and tights (with shoes) of any color or style. Please no tutus or pajamas in class and hair pulled off of face. Dress in layers as it can go from chilly to warm fast! Being dressed and ready for class is part of the experience and encourages focus and participation.
Policies
Sometimes, the Sonoma Community Center has to cancel a class due to low enrollment or unforeseen circumstances, such as a natural disaster or health emergency. If this happens and we do not offer a reschedule date, you will be refunded 100% of your registration fee(minus the payment processing and services fee), or credit towards a future class. If we are able to offer a reschedule date but you are unable to make the new date, we will gladly offer credit towards a future class.
All credits must be used within 1 year. As a reminder, if you do not feel well please stay home for the class or session. If you would like a refund, please contact [email protected]
