Founded in 1990, South Gate Youth Football & Cheer is a non-profit youth organization that has been serving the South Gate community for 37 years. It is a program of flag and tackle football and cheerleading for boys and girls between the ages of 5 and 13. The program states a mission of providing fundamental nurturing experiences that build a strong foundation for future success in sports and in life. It emphasizes hard work, teamwork, sportsmanship, and discipline to prepare participants for high school competitive sports. The organization represents the South Gate community and supports local high schools. It is run by like-minded volunteer adults who lead football and cheer teams and serve on the Executive Board or General Board.
