Sprouts Chef Training offers culinary training that includes chef training internships, restaurant internships, and job placement in culinary roles. The program focuses on vocational chef training for young adults and previously offered cooking classes for kids before shifting exclusively to Sprouts Chef Training.

• Ages: 16–18 years old

Sprouts Chef Training states that it equips under-resourced youth to rise from hardship through culinary training and job placement. Youth in the program are paired with a chef mentor and a case manager to develop the skills needed to secure and maintain a culinary job, and graduates use entry-level jobs to kickstart culinary careers, pay for education, or pursue new industries. Sprouts created its Chef Training Program teaming up with Jamie Oliver and also hosts a series of pop-up dinners with partner chefs to build East Coast community as it launches the Chef Training Program in New York City.

Sprouts began in 2006 in the Bay Area under the name “Sprouts Cooking Club.” In 2021, it retired its cooking classes for kids to focus exclusively on Sprouts Chef Training. In November 2022, Sprouts welcomed its 100th trainee, Sarah Robinson, and in March 2023, its Annual Gala raised $400,000. In summer 2024, Sprouts launches the Chef Training Program in New York City. The organization’s mission statement is: “We believe in a world where all youth have access to economic opportunity and fulfilling career pathways.”

The leadership team for Sprouts Chef Training includes Ava Planer (Program Coordinator), Devika Nair (Accountant), Hannah Rubino (Program Director), Kate Rogers (Executive Director), and Payton-luv Brees (Events and Communications Coordinator).
