About
Spark of Creation Studio offers classes and lessons in Musical Theater, Hip Hop, Hula, ‘Ori Tahiti, Jazz, Tap, and Vocal & Music. The program also offers music lessons, weeklong musical theater summer camps, and weeklong hip hop summer camps. The studio provides both group lessons and private lessons and offers programs ranging from Little Sparks and Recreational programs to competitive team experiences for both youth and adults.

Spark of Creation Studio was established in 2006 and has three dance studios and two music studios. The studio leadership includes Artistic Director Marilou Lafon, Studio Director Randy Lafon, and Program Manager Kelli O'Neill. The studio is a member of the National Dance Education Organization and offers Junior and Secondary chapters of the National Honor Society for Dance Arts. Its stated mission is to provide quality professional instruction and build community by developing creative, confident, and compassionate performers, and it is described as the most comprehensive dance facility on the Peninsula. Spark of Creation Studio is committed to cultivating a love for the performing arts in its students and enriching the Peninsula’s performing arts scene.
One student, Mindy, shared that Spark of Creation Studio has become a second home since starting in 2009 and that she has studied hula and Tahitian dance and performed at the annual Polynesian Showcase. A parent, Joce, described being proud to be part of the SOC family and thanked the studio for the opportunity for their child to be in the Peter Pan Jr. production. Another student, Michelle, described moving from an Intermediate to an Advanced class and said the environment was welcoming and that she became more confident as a dancer. A parent, Leila, noted seeing growth in their child’s confidence and skill since beginning dance at Spark of Creation Studio and expressed appreciation for the teachers’ time, energy, and influence.
