The Oakland Volleyball Program offers girls club volleyball for ages 12 to 18 and boys 14 & under volleyball. The girls program competes in club volleyball through the Northern California Volleyball Association (NCVA) of USA Volleyball, and the boys program competes through the Junior Volleyball Association (JVA).
Programs
- Girls club volleyball — 12-18 · Girls season generally runs January-June; practices generally on Mondays & Wednesdays, Tuesdays & Thursdays, or Wednesday & Friday; 90 minutes to 2 hours between 6-9PM; 1-2 tournaments per month from January-June · Competes in club volleyball through NCVA of USA Volleyball; fees are significantly less at $2100; no committed player is excluded due to financial hardship.
- Boys 14&Under volleyball — 14 and under · Tryouts in August; league tournaments run from September through November; if the boys team earns a national bid, they reconvene in May after the Boys School Volleyball Season · Program expansion to include boys through Junior Volleyball Association (JVA). Teams/rosters are based on the number of players committed to the competition and practice schedule.

About the provider
The program was established in 1998 and says it has been around for over 25 years. Lisa Busbee-Young is the Program Director. The program states that it provides affordable volleyball programming in Oakland for those who would otherwise not have the opportunity to participate in club volleyball at the Junior Olympic level. It also says it has partnered with the Oakland Athletic League (OAL) to provide resources, increase participation, and grow the sport of volleyball in the Oakland area.
Fees are $2100; excludes no committed player due to financial hardship; coach/trainer volunteers are welcomed; requests for potential players should be emailed to [email protected].
