About
Huron Superfriends Daycare offers a cognitive-based program for children in kindergarten through grade 6. The program focuses on literacy and communication skills, and classrooms are separated into various learning centers that use hands-on activities to promote skill development. Educators use observations of children throughout their day as a tool for constructing curriculum content and programming, and meaningful learning opportunities are provided in support of key developmental skills relevant to specific age groups.
• Ages: 3–12 years old
• Schedule: Open Monday–Friday, 7:30am–6:00pm
Huron Superfriends Daycare currently runs two programs: a Kindergarten Program and a School Age Program. During the school year, only children enrolled at Huron Street Public School are eligible for daycare enrollment, while enrollment is open in the summer months. The program is based on the premise that children are most successful at learning when program experiences account for their interests, strengths, and needs, and it emphasizes human relationships and individuality as a basis for children’s creative, physical, social, emotional, and intellectual growth. The mission of Huron Superfriends is to provide safe, affordable, high quality child care through a cognitive-based program where children are encouraged to develop at their own pace, with the needs of both the child and the family identified as a top priority. The organization works closely with parents and the community to connect with networks and services and to provide high-quality childcare and education. It is licensed by the Ministry of Community and Social Services to provide care for 59 children from six to twelve years of age in the School Age Program and 52 children from three and a half to five years of age in the Kindergarten Program.
