Twentynine Palms Artists’ Guild and Art Gallery was founded in 1951–52 by eight artists: John Hilton, Merritt Boyer, Evelyn Hutchinson, Michael Malloy, Kirk Martin, Vera Martin, Edna Onderdonk, and Fritiof Perssons. It is the oldest arts organization in the Morongo Basin and operates solely by volunteers. Twentynine Palms Artists’ Guild and Art Gallery is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, all-volunteer organization that is financially supported through membership, donations, grants, and the sale of artwork and gift items offered in the Gift Shop. Each November, the Gallery hosts the Joshua Tree National Park Art Expo, organized by the Joshua Tree National Park Council for the Arts. The Gift Shop offers original art pieces by local artists, including jewelry, ceramics, paintings, cards, unique decor, clothing, and more, and 100% of purchases in the Gift Shop support the gallery and artists.
