Coach Shaun Blair is the owner of Air Blair Athletics Youth Sports Programs and has over 25 years of coaching and training experience in basketball, football, and baseball. For the past 10+ years, Coach Blair has served as a contractor in youth sports for the City of Fairfield and the City of Vacaville, and programs are also offered through the City of Vacaville, City of Fairfield, Vacaville Unified School District, and Benicia Unified School District. Coach Blair’s background includes being an All Nor Cal baseball and football player at John F. Kennedy High School in Richmond, California, playing college football at Chico State, coaching Pop Warner football, training elite basketball players with Top Gun Academy whose players went on to schools such as Duke, North Carolina, California, Washington, Pepperdine, and CSU East Bay and to the NBA, and coaching football at Pinole Valley High School where players he coached went on to play at California, Stanford, Missouri, and in the NFL. He has also spent the past few years as the boys’ middle school coach at Vacaville Christian Schools.
The program’s stated mission is to provide youth of all backgrounds and skill levels the opportunity to experience the lifelong benefits of participating in sports and to teach the importance of sportsmanship, teamwork, respect, and self-confidence. Volleyball fundamentals is a co-ed program for players of all levels and abilities, and Vacaville Intermediate Volleyball is for intermediate and advanced players and includes advanced skills and preparation for competitive play. Fit and Play is a structured PE-style program that includes sports and fitness activities to get kids up and moving. Coach Blair continues to run ABA programs during the COVID-19 pandemic, and all programs comply with current COVID-19 safety protocols.
One family reported that their daughter played in the Middle School League and, even though her skill set was not as high as others, she was not treated differently and their experience with Air Blair Athletics over about two years has been “great,” describing ABA in one word as “family.” Another family that has been with Air Blair Athletics since 2018 said the program has brought their kids out of their shell, teaches them how to play in a team environment, and teaches respect for other players, coaches, and parents, and they described it as an “all-around positive experience.” A third parent shared that her son has been with Air Blair Athletics for three years, that the program focuses on family atmosphere, personal character, and sportsmanship in addition to skill set, and that her son has “really developed over the last couple of years.”
