One 2023 NYLT course participant and 2-year staff member, Max S., stated that NYLT was memorable, that he learned about working in groups, and that he later applied his leadership skills to start a Venturing Crew, also noting that people he met at the course became his best friends in college. Another NYLT participant and 3-year staff member, Rachel B., said that NYLT changed the way she approaches public speaking and that she left feeling more confident and had fun during the course. A 2023 NYLT participant and 2-year staff member, Ansel C., described NYLT as a once in a lifetime experience and stated that it is a place to learn new skills, make new friends, and have fun. NYLT participant and 3-year staff member, Addison T., described NYLT as one of the most fun and useful programs they had participated in, saying they used the communication knowledge in multiple dual enrollment classes and made many memories, including finding one of their best friends there. A Scout mother, Shannon A., said the merit badge courses through the council had been amazing, that her daughter enjoyed every class she took, and that it was a joy to see her daughter grow and learn with the experts teaching during a difficult time, adding that the program inspired her to help build a better virtual merit badge program.
