JillyJazz Kids offers jazz dance classes that include choreography, private instruction, and Master Classes. The program includes group classes from Beginning Basic through Advanced Intermediate and offers classic contemporary jazz steeped in Luigi Jazz technique and style. Classes use eclectic music and choreography described by the program as fun and challenging for dancers of all levels.
JillyJazz Kids is led by Jill Strauss. Jill Strauss has 25 years of experience teaching and performing in the USA and throughout North America and trained in New York City. She has taught for and performed with Luigi’s Jazz Centre and performed on the New York stage for 15 years, including professional credits in Carousel, West Side Story, Radio City Music Hall, and Madison Square Garden. She founded JStrauss Jazz dance company in 1999 after arriving in Los Angeles and has been teaching and choreographing in Los Angeles for 20 years. She taught at Crossroads School in Santa Monica for 18 years and is currently on faculty at UCLA. The program describes its style as classic contemporary jazz at its best, steeped in Luigi Jazz technique and style, with an emotion-invoking approach that transforms the student into the dancer. The program offers what it describes as exciting jazz classes on the westside of Los Angeles, with locations in Venice, Santa Monica, and West Los Angeles.
