About

Groove Zone Adult Hip Hop Dance Classes – Los Angeles (Woodland Hills at Elite Dance & Performing Arts) offers hip hop dance classes for adults, including Beginner Hip Hop Classes and Adult Hip Hop Classes. The program also offers music video courses, performance opportunities, private lessons, and an online course called Hip Hop Fundamentals. Classes use a system based on four main grooves and focus on teaching hip hop groove, not just choreography.

• Schedule: 6–8wk Courses offered year-round
• Price: $27 for Hip Hop Fundamentals online course

Groove Zone is the only studio where adults can begin their dance journey alongside others starting at the same level in a structured 6–8wk Course. The program includes a unique Absolute Beginner level that is below a standard beginner class, and Level 1 is designed for absolute beginners in a fun, judgment-free space. All enrolled course students receive weekly rehearsal videos and access to personal feedback from their instructor, and each course wraps up with a group photo and a video of the routine. Level 1 students receive a Completion Certificate at the end of their course, and Level 2 and above may be invited to perform their routine at public performance opportunities or Groove Zone showcases. Music Video Course students receive a professionally filmed video of their routine, captured with professional lighting by a professional videographer. For intermediate dancers there are half-time performance opportunities, such as WNBA events at Crypto Arena. The program states that it is for adults 18 and over, with most ages being 30–50, and describes its community as friendly, fun, and supportive with no judgment. The program’s motto is “Think you CAN’T Dance? Bet I can teach you!” and its mission statement is “I am here with a purpose… to inspire, uplift, love and empower all students that attend our Classes.”

Groove Zone is led by founder and owner/instructor Yolanda Thomas and head instructor Manuela (Mo) Oliveira.
