Tiny Treks NorCal is described as an innovative, outdoor Parent/Child program for toddlers and preschoolers, with 100% outdoor exploration all year long and weekly new destinations in open spaces, bay lands, farms, creeks, forests, and more, rain or shine. The program uses an emergent curriculum that incorporates science, critical thinking, math, pre-literacy, and social-emotional development into outdoor explorations, and offers small, school-year classes from September through May, weekly summer camps, and specialized Tiny Trek sessions such as Mandarin Immersion. It includes age-appropriate classes for Teeny Tiny Trekkers (12 to 24 months), small year-round class sizes, and drop-off small groups in Peninsula, North Peninsula, and South Bay regions, and tuition includes entry and parking fees.
Tiny Treks NorCal is a year-round outdoor forest program designed for early childhood and is an outdoor Parent/Child program for toddlers and preschoolers that has, since 1997, taught and lived a belief that children learn best through nature and play, that nature is the best classroom, and that kids learn most through experiential learning outdoors, while nurturing curiosity and instilling respectful and protective love of the natural world in children. Pamela Worth founded Tiny Treks in 1997 and is the Founder and Owner of Tiny Treks; she has a Bachelor's in Psychology and Early Childhood Development from the University of Illinois, a Masters Degree in Education and Child Development from National University, has taken extensive coursework beyond her masters in psychology, education and child development, and is a certified life and wellness coach. Educators in the program have extensive early childhood experience, and many are California Naturalist certified.
One parent shared that a Tiny Treks teacher showed remarkable kindness, patience, and attentiveness, and that their child came home excited about learning and full of stories about what was discovered in class. Another parent stated that the teachers are fantastic, the curriculum is spot on for little ones and parents, the locations are incredible, the owner and staff are responsive to questions, the price is right, and their child has never been happier in a class, and also noted that Tiny Treks embodies elements of the Reggio Emilia philosophy that emphasizes the outdoors, exploration, and child’s play.
