YMCA Overnight Camps include activities such as archery, a rock climbing wall, a climbing tower, zip line, low ropes, BB guns, slingshots, GaGa Ball, basketball, volleyball, 9-Square in the Air, canoeing, fishing, and Mine Chute Slides. Campers take part in nature hikes, astronomy and star gazing, scavenger hunts, team building activities, twilight activities, and morning inspiration. The program also offers swimming, arts and crafts, crafts, improv and drama activities, camp dances, and multiple campfire activities with songs and skits.

• Price: $799 – Standard Rate for YMCA Camp E.L.K., including 6 days/5 nights at YMCA Camp E.L.K., 3 meals/day, transportation, camp T-shirt, photo yearbook, and all activities, with a $150 nonrefundable deposit required to secure a child’s space. $875 per camper for YMCA Camp Oakes, including 7 days/6 nights at YMCA Camp Oakes, 3 meals/day, transportation, camp T-shirt, photo yearbook, and all activities, with a $150 nonrefundable deposit required to secure a child’s space. The YMCA of Orange County states that its mission is to put Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind, and body for all, with a focus on youth and family development, healthy living, and social responsibility driven by staff and volunteers. YMCA Camp E.L.K. is accredited by the American Camp Association, and ACA camps meet over 300 standards for health, safety, staff, and program quality. All camps participate in a Child Abuse Prevention Assessment every other year by Praesidium. YMCA Camp E.L.K. conducts criminal background checks, including Department of Justice and FBI checks, sex offender registry checks, and reference checks on all staff and volunteers prior to hiring, and the YMCA requires all staff and volunteers to complete training on recognizing and preventing abuse. The YMCA prohibits staff and volunteers from being alone with a child where they cannot be observed by others, restricts staff contact with children outside of YMCA programs, educates parents on how to recognize and prevent abuse, and reports any allegations or suspicions of abuse to law enforcement. Health Center personnel are on site 24 hours a day during YMCA overnight youth camps to dispense all medications and provide for healthcare and first aid needs. A Summer Camp Packing List is provided for both Camp E.L.K. and Camp Oakes, and rentals and retreat opportunities are offered at Camp E.L.K. for groups such as traditional summer camps, youth retreats, family reunions, or specialized programs. YMCA Overnight Camps include a Camp Oakes Counselors-in-Training program for ages 15–17 to gain leadership and life skills.
