Upward Basketball includes weekly one-hour gym practices, basketball league games, and an End of Season Celebration. Players take part in an Evaluation Day for skill assessment and uniform sizing, a Picture Day, and half-time devotionals during both practices and games.

The program is part of the Upward Sports Leagues at Rose Drive Friends Church, which state that they are for families seeking a league that develops the total athlete mentally, athletically, spiritually, and socially. Upward Sports states that athletes grow in character, confidence, faith, and sportsmanship, and that the league strives to promote and teach good sportsmanship and teamwork. Rose Drive Friends Church is one of many participating churches in a program that is available across the nation.
Cost includes a reversible uniform, one MemoryMate photo, and an end of season gift. Teams are limited to ten players, and one friend request is welcomed and encouraged. The cost also includes 10 weeks of one-hour gym practice and 8 games.
Weekly one-hour practices run from the week of Monday, December 7, through the week of Monday, February 22, with no practices the weeks of December 21 and December 28, and practices resuming January 4, 2027. Practices may be scheduled Monday through Friday from 5:30–6:30 PM, 6:30–7:30 PM, or 7:30–8:30 PM. Eight weekly one-hour Saturday games are scheduled from January 9, 2027, to February 27, 2026, with game times between 8 AM and 5 PM. Evaluation Day is on Saturday, November 7, with 1st–2nd graders from 8:30–10:30 AM, 3rd–4th graders from 10:30 AM–12:30 PM, and 5th–7th graders from 12:30–2:30 PM. Picture Day is Saturday, January 23, one hour before game time. The End of Season Celebration is Monday, March 1, from 6:15–7 PM. The Coaches Meeting is Wednesday, November 18, at 7 PM, and referee training is on Saturday, December 19, at 9 AM.
Parents are encouraged to sign up to coach, and all practice materials and equipment for coaches are provided. All training and equipment for referees are provided, and refereeing is described as a great opportunity for high schoolers looking to fulfill community service hours. Additional volunteer roles include Assistant Coach, scorekeeping, gym setup and tear down, Evaluation Day help, Prayer Partner, and Advertising.
