Valmont Bike Park Summer Camps

Valmont Bike Park Summer Camps focuses on biking and bike park riding, including technical biking skills and bike maintenance. Campers ride pump tracks, dirt jumps, dual slalom, slope style, and single track cross country trails, and also have time for free riding. They practice body positioning, cornering mechanics, falling techniques, aerial maneuvers, maintaining momentum on rocks and sand, and good trail etiquette, and are introduced to basic bicycle repair and maintenance, including safety checks of bikes, gears, and tires.

Campers are grouped by skill level, and after an initial skill evaluation on the first day, they are teamed up with other riders at their level. The camp is designed for riders of all abilities, but to register, campers must be able to bike confidently without training wheels on a dirt surface, and if a camper does not meet this minimum skill requirement, the camp may move the camper to a different program if space is available or remove the camper from the group and offer a credit. At this camp, riding gloves, elbow pads, knee pads, a bike, and a helmet are required, with pads and gloves available for purchase through the online store and bikes available to rent for the week through the registration process.

Campers are grouped and mentored by well-trained, friendly, qualified instructors who are all 18 and older with safety and skills training, and Avid4 instructors are described as the #1 point of positive feedback from parents of campers. The leadership team includes founder David Secunda, a former president of the Outdoor Industry Association and a 25-year veteran of the outdoor education industry. The organization is a Certified B Corp, its summer camps are accredited by the American Camp Association, and its camps have been named among Colorado Parent’s Top 5 Sports Camps. The camp is backed by the Avid4 Adventure Guarantee, which states that every camp will provide an authentic outdoor adventure, incredibly well-trained and professional staff, and increased confidence, and if these promises are not met, the next Avid4 Adventure camp is free for the family.
