Girls Shred – Valmont Bike Park focuses on bike park riding, technical biking skills, and bike maintenance. Campers ride at a bike park, work on specific riding techniques, and spend time learning how to take care of their bikes. In order to register, campers must be able to bike confidently without training wheels on a dirt surface.

The program takes place at Boulder’s world-renowned Valmont Bike Park, with drop off and pick up at the south entrance near the dog park. At this bike park, riding gloves, elbow pads, knee pads, a bike, and a helmet are required, and pads, gloves, and bike rentals are available through the camp’s systems, including an online store and registration process. Each camper is grouped by skill level and rides on a variety of terrains and challenges, learning the basics of bike park freeriding with the opportunity to progress toward advanced skills in a supportive girls-only environment that is designed for riders of all abilities and includes an extra emphasis on girl power.

The program is backed by the Avid4 Adventure Guarantee and includes access to top-of-the-line gear specifically sized for kids, as well as transportation to and from recreation areas. Avid4 Adventure states that its mission is rooted in the belief in the transformative power of the outdoors, where kids build confidence, make new friends, and master essential skills in activities like paddling, biking, rock climbing, and hiking. Programs at Avid4 Adventure evolve as campers grow, from age 3 through 17.

Instructors are described as insatiable outdoors experts who love adventuring and working with kids, are all 18 and older, and have safety and skills training. The leadership team is headed by David Secunda, former president of the Outdoor Industry Association and a 25-year veteran of the outdoor education industry. As a Certified B Corp, Avid4 Adventure is committed to public transparency and accountability, and its summer camps are accredited by the American Camp Association and have been named among Colorado Parent’s Top 5 Sports Camps.

Parent testimonials describe this organization as a place where one camper learned to ride without training wheels and developed new favorite activities, where staff are described as mature, responsible, and excited to share their passion, and where children remained enthusiastic about camp well after it ended.
